What is it?

Conor McGregor takes on Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 299. The fight sees McGregor – aka ‘The Notorious’ – return to the Octagon after his defeat to Floyd Mayweather in the boxing ring in August 2017.

McGregor attempted to take the attack to Nurmagomedov a day before their eagerly-anticipated UFC lightweight title showdown.

The pair had both made the 155lb limit on Friday morning but tensions boiled over at the ceremonial weigh-in on the afternoon at the T-Mobile Arena for the final staredowns.

As pair got into their fighting poses, McGregor brought his arms down on Nurmagomedov before aiming a kick at his rival after being beckoned forward by the Russian.

Nurmagomedov, making the first defence of his title, seemed unflustered by McGregor’s antics or another barracking from a crowd largely supporting the Irishman. The venue was a sea of green, white and orange as a crowd of thousands gave McGregor a rapturous reception.
